| Throughout Paqualette, werewolves are viewed as senseless monsters. Nayla, Queen of Paqualette, has personal reasons not to trust weres, but as Queen she is forbidden to take a husband or a human lover. Her only recourse is to possess one of the were prisoners as her sexual slave. A passionate woman, Nayla is not willing to forgo sex because of her distrust, so she decides to take a chance and unwittingly selects, Mace, the alpha leader of the pack as her stud.
Imprisoned and held without food or water, Mace is furious at his captors. However, since he is also responsible for his pack, he'll do anything to keep them alive, even give in to the Queen's sexual demands. But the one thing he refuses to give up is control. He'll do what he must to satisfy the woman who has him chained to her bed, but only under his terms. Turning his enticing captor into the submissive is the only way to show her he's more man than she realizes. Lia Slater's story is hot. Mace is pure alpha and Nayla quickly realizes that her new lover is not only talented, he is dominant and intelligent. And it is the Queen's passion that ends up conquering them both. I enjoyed the byplay between the two main characters, and totally sympathized with Mace's predicament. I do think, however, that given her past Nayla should have had more reservations about taking a were to pleasure her, but the reader doesn't learn what actually happened until much later in the story. Though WereSlave is definitely a romance, there is m/f/m activity that occurs, but it is totally justified given the story. I am a reader who prefers a one-on-one relationship between my hero and heroine after they meet, so I was unprepared and had a few reservations when I realized what was going to occur, but even I fully accepted it given the circumstances. I highly recommend WereSlave to all readers who like alpha males who know what they want and exactly how they intend to get it.
