Rosanna Traversare is the single woman who hates being single. She loves men. She meets a man named Matthew at the wedding of one of her friends. And this is where I depart from my normal book review, where usually I briefly describe the plot of the book. Whore by Default didn't have much of a plot to be described here. Rosanna goes from man-to-man searching for love, and finding mostly sex. Hot sex, enjoyable sex, but soon enough the men leave and she is alone again. She is an attractive, professional woman with a bubbly personality. She is also very needy. Men like her of course, and women hate her. Her only woman friend appears to be her sister, with whom she is very close, and goes barhopping with often.

WHORE BY DEFAULT reads like a journal. It is an easy read, but would have benefited greatly from a more conventional framework. We never really get to know any of the men Rosanna tells us about. After a while I got tired of reading about her affairs, and her drinking. It was not enough to know she was a hot-blooded Italian woman. I wanted to know why I should like her. I wanted to know if she had any interests beside sex. If she did anything for fun besides drink.
