Murder: Guaranteed to ruin a perfectly good honeymoon.

When Miranda French finally emerges from a few days of connubial bliss with her new husband in an East Anglia inn, she eagerly checks out the local shops...

Available in May from Samhain Publishing

...and stumbles over a body. A mutilated body. The unfortunate victim was known to be a connoisseur of married women, so it’s a good bet that one of the ladies’ husbands is the culprit. If there’s any hope of getting back to the “honey” part of her honeymoon, Randi will have to take matters into her own hands and get involved in the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector David French, Earl of Middlebury, has a lot more on his hands than an overly helpful new wife, planted DNA and more suspects than he can comfortably count. The killer isn’t done.

And sending Randi away to the safety of his estate may have been the biggest mistake of his life. She’s next on the killer’s hit list.

About Marie-Nicole Ryan

Award-winning romantic suspense author, Marie-Nicole Ryan, has had a life-long love affair with books. Like a lot of people, she thought she'd write a book some day. Since time passed so quickly (when you're supposed to be having fun), she found herself well into middle age and still no book--as long as you don't count the hundred pages of one she typed on an old portable Smith-Corona typewriter back in the late Seventies.

Her first book was published in 2002, and it was the realization of that long-held dream. Although she spent most of her life working as an RN, she also found time to earn an associate degree in interior design, something that comes in handy when it's time to visualize a room. And since she can't resist placing her characters in jeopardy, her medical expertise isn't wasted either.

Since that first book, she's published three more books. ONE TOO MANY is her latest release at Samhain Publishing, Ltd., and she has one more contracted for release this summer.

Her first Samhain Publishing release, TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, won an EPPIE in 2008 in the Erotic Romance Contemp/Suspense/Mystery category.

She's a member of ROMANCE WRITERS OF AMERICA and MUSIC CITY ROMANCE WRITERS, EPIC, and Kiss of Death. When she was the editor of MCRW's newsletter, Love Notes, she won first place in the RWA, small chapter, newsletter contest.

She's a native of Henderson, Kentucky, but she's lived in Tennessee so long she considers herself a native. She's given up her day job and is continually amazed by how much more writing she's accomplished.

LOVE ON THE RUN, TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THE MAN FOR THE JOB, SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS

An Interview with Marie-Nicole Ryan
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Marie-Nicole, thank you for joining us at TRS. Please tell us about your featured book, One Too Many.

MNR: One Too Many is a sequel to my November release, Love On The Run. It's more of a suspense with romantic elements. David and Randi are on their honeymoon when she comes across the mutilated body of an antiques dealer in the shop across from the inn where they're staying.

HH: This story has it all - romance, suspense, bodies. <g> Did you have the idea for this story in mind when you wrote the first book, Love on the Run? Or did you enjoy that story so much you wanted to come back to that world?

MNR: No, I didn't. I didn't think I would ever be writing a sequel. Originally LOTR was published by another publisher. By the time I regained the rights to the story, and revised it again, I knew I wanted to write more about David and Randi. I fully intended to write a series, but my current publisher isn't going to publish any more non-romance stories. So this is it for Randi and David French.

HH: How does this story continue Love on the Run?

MNR: The story of One Too Many takes up just a couple of months after the end of Love on the Run. As I said earlier, they're on their honeymoon when the story starts. In addition to the murder and suspense plot, you'll see how a down-to-earth gal from Tennessee adjusts to being the wife of the Earl of Middlebury. Since it takes place in a small English village, you also meet some quirky village characters. You'll also get another chance to meet David's old nanny, Mina Griswold Pelletier. And Randi's young son, Jamie, isn't left out of the story either.

HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story and what sort of research was required?

MNR: I did lots of e-mailing with Brit author, Kate Johnson, about the weather conditions in East Anglia where this story takes place. I also used the internet for train schedules, tide tables and looking up photos of village police stations and inns. I also consulted with another Brit author about the legal processes in the UK. One of my local MCRW members is from the UK and she read the final draft with an eye for my use of British slang. And to make sure I was correct about which police offiers could actually carry arms, I e-mailed New Scotland Yard (Metropolitan Police Service) and was given a great contact in their Firearms Policy Unit.

HH: What do you like best about David and Miranda?

MNR: I like the contrast in their characters and how well they seem to mesh in spite of their different backgrounds. David is a true upperclass Brit, but his experience with the Metropolitan Police CID in London makes him more like DCI Thomas Lynley of Elizabeth George's fabulous series. Miranda/Randi comes from a normal upper middle class Nashville, TN family. Their history together is a rich one and both started out in Love On The Run as wounded souls. Together they found passion and a love neither expected or felt they deserved.

In One too Many they've progressed beyond where they were in the previous book, but there's still room in their relationship for a lot of growth.

HH: Do you have a scheduled writing time each day or do you write at each opportunity?

MNR: I write in the mornings until lunch, then after General Hospital goes off, I tackle my current WIP again.

HH: Are you totally focused on the story or are you easily distracted?

MNR: When I wrote OTM, I'd just retired from my day job and I wrote the first draft in two months. That was very focused. :-) I'm fortunate I don't have a lot of distractions currently. However, it has been difficult to find the same degree of focus since then. There's a lot of time spent with promotional activities which cuts down somewhat on my writing time but are completely necessary for any published author.

HH: Is there anything you have to have for your writing time to be productive? (And no you can't say computer, pen, or pencil. <g>)

MNR: I need soothing music--classical, Celtic, New Age playing on my iPod. A lavender-scented candle helps me concentrate as well. One more thing. I can't work in a messy office. There may be stacks of paper around, BUT they are straight stacks of paper.

HH: You get your best writing ideas when?

MNR: Anytime and anywhere. I've dreamed story plots. Sometimes it's a news story or even a home improvement show that inspires me with a story idea.

HH: What would you like to tell readers out there?

MNR: I hope everyone who read the first book will take a chance on One Too Many. This is a book that flowed like a rushing stream during the spring thaw. I don't know if I'll ever experience that kind of flow again, but I certainly hope so. Until then I keep on keepin' on.

Thank you so much for taking time for this interview, Holly.

HH: Thank you!
