Reviews for Prince of the Three Mountains
Review 1
"For anyone who is a medieval fan, author Ellie Tremayne has penned an action packed historical thriller to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Aeron and Rhys are intelligent, strong and passionate. Their relationship is tested over and over again in inventive ways. The large cast of characters is varied and well developed, some interesting and some truly vicious. The descriptions place the reader right in the medieval time period, battling enemies on all sides. Ellie Tremayne has penned an exciting adventure I intend to read again in future."
Review 2
"Prince of the Three Mountains is a sweeping tale of passion, intrigue, family, and war all set in medieval Wales. Its characters are each endearing or despicable, believably multi-faceted, and quite engaging. The tale has a touchable quality, as if you could walk onto any given page and be surrounded by the action. I was impressed with the love scenes between Aeron and Rhys; very raw, very sexy and deliciously sensual without being raunchy. This book is a keeper, one you would mention to a friend, and Ms. Tremayne has a new fan."
Review 3
"There is a lot going on in this story. Readers can almost taste the harshness of life and feel the dirt and smell the blood. Will Rhys believe that Aeron now has doubts about what she saw? Is she safe from Alun? Is Rhys's sword arm enough to keep and protect what is now his? PRINCE OF THE THREE MOUNTAINS is very well-done. Ellie Tremayne has certainly done her research. Her secondary characters like Tomo, Rhys's right hand; Dilys, the woman who made him feel human again when he dragged himself back to life; Eric, who had resented Rhys since Harold's death; Prince Rhodri and others are as real and important as Rhys and Aeron. And there is much more to Bevan than he lets on. This is a truly excellent book, one I highly recommend."

An interview with Ellie Tremayne
By Katie Raines Assistant for The Romance Studio
KR: Ellie, thank you for joining us at TRS. Please tell us about your featured work, Prince of the Three Mountains. ET: I love this book and I am so pleased that Total-e-Bound has released it. This is just a summary.
With the Black Norse to the west and the Saxons to the East the people of the Three Mountains need a warrior. Rhys ap Idris is that man. An intelligent and intuitive leader, he raises his sword and steps forward to defend his people.
Aeron's lies shattered Rhys's family and heart, but now she is, bought, naked and completely his.
Princess Aeron, the only child of the Mervyn, the Prince of the Three Mountains, must marry, as her father dictates, to unite the squabbling factions. From the moment Rhys and Aeron meet, their hearts entwine. But when Mervyn is found murdered and on Aeron's testimony, Rhys' father is judged to be the murderer, their love seems doomed.
I'm not saying anymore as I don't want to spoil if for you.
KR: Two people surrounded in responsibility and obligation find love amidst intrigue and danger. Where did you get the idea for this wonderful tale? ET: When people talk about Celtic warriors and romance they usual mean Scotland or Ireland and forget completely about the other ancient Celtic land of Wales or Cymry as its people call it. It is a land of mystics and saint with strong links to the Arthurian legend. It is a grand country of Mountains and Valleys with a history stretching back to the dawn of time.
I've always love Wales and have visited it many times and a few years ago I was walking in North Wales and stood on the ruins of an ancient hill fort looking over the green pastures and craggy outcrops of rock. I thought of the men and women who had live there in times passed and an image of Rhys started in my mind. In such a harsh environment a tribe would only survive if it had a strong leader. But what if that leader was old with only a daughter and several claimants came forward. And that was how Prince of the Three Mountains was born.
I rolled the elements of the story around for a month or two and then I set down my plan. I am one of those writers who has to have the whole story in my head before I start so I know where it going and how it will end. It changes as I go through but I, and again that just my way, have to have it all thought out.
When I'm not writing I am always looking around for historical snippets that will inspire me, a picture, a diary, anything.
KR: What sort of research did you do on this work? ET: I always do a huge amount of research for all my books. Although I write erotic romance I take a great deal of pleasure and pride in making my stories and their settings as accurate as I can. Prince of the Three Mountains is set in 10th century Wales, a land of warriors and clans, and although there isn't the same amount of source material about this period as there is around, say, the regency period, there are some good sources. Davies: the History of Wales for one.
Rodri Mawr, who is mentioned in the book, was the High Prince of Wales at that time and the place name are all factual although I have anglicized some for easier reading. I had a map on my desk so I could see where and in which direction Rhys travelled and how long it would take him. The scenes in Dublin were taken from accounts of the slave market there.
KR: What did you enjoy most about writing this work? What challenges did you face? ET: I love the characters of Rhys and Aeron they came to life very quickly within the first few pages. I loved the element of his tortured spirit for his family and how she delivered him from it. Their physical love is the way she heals his torn heart but he has to learn to trust her and himself again. It was difficult writing the emotions so they are real. I have a big thank you to my editor Janice for that, as she kept me on track. When you're writing a book over six months it's almost impossible to remember everything you've writing months before and sometimes bit sneak in that shouldn't be there. Any author needs am eagle-eyed editor to keep them straight. Anyone who thinks you just write a story and then it gets published don't know the half of it.
KR: What did you like most about your two leading characters? ET: Let me just say that I love Rhys and if I were ever to fall through the time-space continuum I want land in his arms. He's everything. Muscular and dark, brood and honorable and great between the furs. Aeron is like him strong and proud but also had the healing love Rhys needs but his guilt tries to destroy.
KR: What do you enjoy about being a writer? ET: Readers who take the time to email me and tell me how much they love my stories. Without them my stories are just black ink on a white page.
KR: How much time do you spend on your career to include promotion and appearances? ET: I spend about three hours a day writing and the rest is promotion. As I live in England I don't have a chance to meet most of my American fans but next year I hope to make it to the RT Conference in Orlando.
KR: What goals have you set for yourself at this point? ET: To produce two quality books each year and have more people read my stories. It's a big market out there and may competitors but I know that people who have read one book have come back for more. One reviewer said of my books:
"it [Price of a Sword] is a wonderful example of what historical fiction can and should be"
Another described Prince of the Three Mountains in the following way: "The descriptions place the reader right in the medieval time period, battling enemies on all sides. Ellie Tremayne has penned an exciting adventure I intend to read again in future."
KR: What's the most important lesson you've learned in your writing career? ET: Never give up. And it is my best advice to anyone who wants to be published, in any genre, is to learn everything you can about your craft and keep going.
KR: What would you like to tell readers out there? ET: I have three books with Total-e-Bound: http://www.total-e-bound.com/authordetail.asp?s=9dlm6c263451&A_ID=21
