Literary Proposal Workshop by Agent Sandra Bishop
Literary Proposal Workshop by Agent Sandra Bishop
Learn how to prepare your material, meet the right people, and practice presenting yourself expertly to jet-lagged, underwhelmed, and often overworked editors, film agents and producers.
Sandra will discuss the importance of a proposal as a business plan for your writing project, what to include and leave out of pitches, how to network professionally, and how to do homework ahead of time.
Most importantly, Sandra will explain how to put a writer’s conference investment to its best use.
Sandra Bishop is a literary agent with Transatlantic Agency and is coming to spend time with talented authors, where she will share her expertise and teach a class on how to create the most effective proposal an author can present to industry professionals.
A literary agent since 2008, Sandra represents non-fiction and established fiction authors who write across a variety of categories – from serious narrative to inspirational romance. Her notable books and authors include ONLY LOVE TODAY by beloved blogger Rachel Macy Stafford of handsfreemama.com; THE THINGS WE NEVER KNEW by 5 time Emmy winning reporter, Oregon Book Award winner, and morning radio host of the US’s top adult rock station, Sheila Hamilton; POSITIVE PARENTING by Rebecca Eanes of positiveparenting.org; Jill Savage of heartsathome.org; HOMESTEAD KITCHEN by Eve and Eivin Kilcher of Discovery’s ALASKA: The Last Frontier; GUNNY’S RULES by Oscar Award winning actor, R. Lee. Ermey; and Jessica Long, the top Paralympic medalist of all time.
Sandra is proud to represent a select list of fiction authors including 5-Star Romantic Times author Joanne Bishof, YA historical novelist and founder of goteenwriters.com, Stephanie Morrill; two time RITA winning romance author Wendy Warren, Pushcart prize winner, Karen Schreck; and is most proud to still represent her very first client, women’s fiction/romance author Hillary Manton Lodge.
Sandra is known for helping writers craft winning proposals which serve as a business plan for their books. She is passionate about representing titles that will succeed commercially, supporting her clients closely from idea through negotiation – and beyond, and working alongside an author’s editor, publicist, and marketing team to help create opportunities for the success of every release.
Please bring the material you wish to prepare for your pitch and be ready for an interactive and educational session.
