I don’t normally ask advice of strangers. However, I desperately need an unbiased opinion. Everyone in Luville Texas, where I live, has an idea about how I should live my life. I get this so-called advice, whether I want it or not. Heck, that’s just the way small towns work.
Recently the woman I have always loved is back in town after a ten-year absence. Her father—who by the way hates my entire family due to a disagreement over a classic Cadillac Orleans—has fallen ill, requiring the love of my life, Sara Anne Carson, to return to Luville and pick up the slack for him, since her brother wants nothing to do with the Carson’s dealership.
It may not seem like a problem for her to return, but see years ago, when we were in high school, I did something mighty foolish. I made out (to put it nicely) with another woman—a woman who was easy and had very little interest in a long term relationship. I did that rather than pressure Sara Ann to get physical. I knew she wanted to go to college, and I was willing to risk losing her to make sure she could achieve her goals. So that was my twisted thinking, which destroyed any chance with Sara Anne more surely than any amount of time apart could. I won’t say I’ve been celibate for the past ten years. I will say that I stopped dating anyone since Sara Anne came back.
But the past isn’t our only problem. I hold an unbreakable lease on a warehouse that the Carson’s Cars dealership wants for a planned expansion. (That deal, by the way, was made with her brother before Sara Anne returned.) I can’t give up the lease, because of promises I made, but I’m willing to help Sara figure out an alternative. So far all she’s done is order me around and yell at me. I told her I wouldn’t listen to any other business proposals unless she went out with me. And I am willing to listen.
This date will be my first, and probably only, chance to win back Sara Anne. I’d never force her into anything physical or emotional, but I want to take advantage of the chance the date will give me to set a spark to the ashes and coals of our young love. Would it be all right to insist she spend some time with me—a point that could be negotiated—before agreeing to any business proposal? Or is that too much? All I want is the chance to change her mind. If she still hates me after I’ve had the chance, then I’ll leave her be, but I sure hope she remembers that she loved me once, so she can probably love me again.

Blurb: A rich cowboy with a classic Cadillac—sounds like the stuff of dreams for a small-town Texas girl, right? Wrong! Josh McKinley and his classic car have been Sara Carson’s nightmare since Josh left ten years ago. Now the cowboy and his Caddy are back. Sara must choose between loyalty to her family and love for the one man she shouldn’t want.
Is the key to Sara Carson’s heart the Cadillac that their families have been feuding over for ten years? Or will Josh McKinley have to give up the car he treasures in order to win the woman he loves?
