FSG Revives North Point Press with a Fresh Focus on Purposeful Living

Farrar, Straus and Giroux (FSG) is breathing new life into a beloved name in publishing. The house is officially relaunching North Point Press, the long-retired imprint known for its thoughtful, transformative nonfiction. With a renewed mission, North Point will now focus on books that empower readers to live more intentionally and make meaningful change—in their own lives and in the world around them.

According to FSG, the revitalized imprint will feature works across a range of categories including environmental science, food, health, design, and personal development. These titles will share a common thread: helping readers “do things better, live better, and change.” The message is clear—North Point aims to become a go-to destination for practical inspiration and soulful guidance in an increasingly complex world.

To steer this vision, Catherine Tung has joined FSG as a senior editor. Formerly with Beacon Press, Tung brings a sharp editorial eye and a passion for books that spark action and reflection. She will both acquire titles for North Point and contribute to FSG’s broader publishing list.

The first release under the reimagined imprint is slated for November 11, 2025, with the highly anticipated What to Eat Now: The Indispensable Guide to Good Food, How to Find It, and Why It Matters by renowned nutritionist and public health advocate Marion Nestle. A timely and vital exploration of modern food systems, the book exemplifies the new North Point’s goal to blend practical advice with intellectual depth.

FSG president and publisher Mitzi Angel emphasized the importance of the relaunch, saying:

“The revival of North Point Press comes at a time when we know readers are looking for guidance. I’m delighted that FSG is going back to its history to revitalize North Point Press, an imprint that will provide books with practical, thoughtful, and imaginative ideas that help readers navigate the complexities of modern life with greater clarity and purpose.”

Originally founded in 1979 and folded into FSG in the early 2000s, North Point Press had a strong reputation for publishing literary nonfiction that explored philosophy, culture, nature, and the human experience. Its new iteration seeks to honor that legacy while meeting the urgent needs of today’s readers—offering books that are as intellectually nourishing as they are actionable.
