After Baker & Taylor’s Collapse, Ingram Steps In to Steady Libraries
Simon & Schuster is bringing its innovative audio imprint, Simon Maverick, across the Atlantic after a successful debut in the US earlier this year. Designed to spotlight self-published authors, the imprint is now opening its doors to UK writers eager to break into the booming audiobook market.
Simon Maverick’s catalogue already includes standout titles such as Lauren Palphreyman’s romantasy Wolf King series, BookTok creator Jaysea Lynn’s For Whom the Belle Tolls, and I.V. Ophelia’s The Poisoner. With strong reception in the US, the UK expansion is positioned to amplify the reach of indie authors while satisfying an ever-growing audience of audiobook listeners.
As part of this rollout, Alice Twomey has been promoted to audio publisher, audio & Simon Maverick, and Simon & Schuster is currently recruiting for two new positions: a commissioning editor and an assistant editor. These hires reflect the imprint’s long-term commitment to growth and innovation in the audio space.
The imprint will actively seek out self-published UK authors across multiple genres, both fiction and non-fiction, with a particular emphasis on titles resonating with UK readers.
Twomey shared her enthusiasm: “We’re really excited to be expanding this successful model with a focus on UK-based authors and titles that over-index here, offering a proven audio route for authors that champions creativity, is grounded in high production values, and puts listeners first.”
With its UK launch, Simon Maverick aims to redefine the opportunities available to indie authors, transforming self-published successes into polished, professional audio productions for a global audience.
