Spotify Expands Audiobook Access Across Five New Markets
Spotify is widening its global audiobook footprint once again. The streaming giant has officially rolled out audiobook access to users in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Monaco, marking another major step in its bid to compete in the audiobook space.
With this expansion, Premium subscribers in these countries now gain access to more than 300,000 audiobook titles at no extra cost. The catalog includes a blend of local-language works and popular English titles, supplied by both independent publishers and major partners like Bonnier.
Spotify emphasized that the move is designed to give listeners “a robust mix” of stories across genres, making audiobooks a built-in part of the Premium experience.
To support heavier listeners, Spotify has also launched Audiobooks+, a monthly add-on designed for users who want more than the standard allotment of fifteen listening hours. This optional upgrade provides additional listening time, appealing to committed audiobook fans who often exceed the base limit.
The expansion underscores Spotify’s continued push into long-form audio—positioning itself not just as a music and podcast platform, but as a one-stop hub for audio entertainment worldwide.
