The Destination Unknown Challenge from Autocrit

Destination Unknown isn’t like other writing challenges.

For this challenge, you must use an opening line that we will provide to you.

What is it? You’ll need to register to find out!

Start from there and create your own short story. Beyond the first line, you’re free to take it in any direction you wish. Get creative and have fun.

There is no minimum or maximum length, but we suggest keeping it short… because you’ll be dealing with a few curveballs along the way.

At the end of the first challenge week, we’re going to offer up a twist that you’ll need to incorporate into the story. This might be a certain event that needs to happen, a line of dialogue that you must include, an important item that you’ll need to work into the proceedings, or something completely different.

Anything can happen. This is, after all, Destination Unknown!

Following the twist, we’ll also provide a closing line with which your story must finish.
